IH 610/US 290 Interchange & Reconstruction, Houston, TX
Client: TxDOT

IDCUS, as Project Manager of the IDCUS+URS Joint Venture, managed the design of the IH 610 at US 290 Interchange for TxDOT and Harris County Toll Road Authority (HCTRA). The work performed under this contract consisted of providing engineering services required for the preparation of final design and PS&E for the Hempstead Managed Lanes, approximately 1.3 miles from west of 18th Street to east of IH 610 along Hempstead Highway, and direct connectors and frontage roads along IH 610, approximately 0.85 miles from Hempstead Highway south to Old Katy Road. The project consisted of the reconstruction of Managed Lane Connectors to IH 610 and the METRO Northwest Transit Center, with two 2-lane frontage roads in each direction. The construction took place within the alignment of Hempstead Highway and its interchange with IH 610 and replaced an existing 6-lane major arterial facility. The existing traffic capacity and number of mainlanes and frontage road lanes were maintained at all times during the construction of the new facility. Work included roadway design, grading, paving, sidewalks, bike trails and pedestrian ramps, water and sewer lines owned by others, drainage, detention facilities, traffic signals, signing, pavement markings, illumination, traffic control plans, storm water pollution prevention plans, retaining walls, bridges, specifications, and cost estimates.
