City of Houston Watonga Boulevard – Paving & Drainage Improvements, Houston, Texas.

IDCUS is designing one mile of 4-lane concrete boulevard roadway with drainage improvements.  Proposed improvements include reconstruction of an existing 4-lane, two direction concrete road with raised medians, left turn lanes, curbs, sidewalks and wheelchair ramps that are in ADA and TDLR compliance.  Scope of work includes the roadway alignment layout for Watonga and alternative alignment layouts for Mangum at the Watonga intersection.  Existing signals at W. 39th St. and W. 43rd St. will be evaluated.  The intersection at Mangum will be evaluated for possible new signalization.  The existing railroad at-grade crossing will remain in place but coordination with the railroad company is necessary.  This project also includes reconstruction of driveways, traffic signal upgrades at W. 43rd Street, proposed 12-inch and 16-inch waterline replacements with fire hydrants and new service connections for the entire project limits, removal of 10-inch, 12-inch and 15-inch existing sanitary sewers, and construction of 12-inch and 18-inch proposed sanitary sewers, replacement of storm sewers with sizes varying from 18 inches to 60 inches.  This project evaluates the impacts of proposed improvements on the existing drainage systems, outfalls and the detention storage requirements. A Hydraulic & Hydrology (H&H) study and drainage design including mitigation analysis and storm sewer design were performed.
