Aldine Westfield Detention Basin along Greens Bayou, Houston, Texas
Client:The project is approximately 113 acres and is located in northcentral Harris County along Greens Bayou on Aldine-Westfield Road near Beltway 8, and is very close to George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH). IDCUS performed conceptual, final design, and construction phase services for the Aldine Westfield Detention Basin (HCFCD Project ID P500-04-00-E003).
The purpose of the project was to evaluate various configurations that would provide a minimum of 1,250 acre-feet of total storage as targeted in the Greens Bayou Mid-Reach Flood Study. Based on evaluation of four alternatives, the alternative with two separate basins was recommended to save the cost to relocate pipeline in the middle of the basin.
